Why Air4ce Young Adults?
In October 2019 we started Air4ce Kids, a new children’s asthma center. The name says it all: Air4ce Kids is mainly for children, so up to about 18 years old.
Now the age of 18 is actually very unnatural. Your lungs and your asthma do not change suddenly. And what we have noticed in recent months is that young adults have many questions about their asthma.
We often hear that someone was treated for asthma in the past, but that the treatment or check-up was stopped at some point. Sometimes because it went very well and the GP/pediatrician/pulmonologist discharged you from the check-up, sometimes because you thought that was possible, or because you simply did not want to take medication anymore. Sometimes you do not really know, because your parents used to arrange everything for you.
It may be that you now notice, for example, that you have less stamina when exercising than your peers. You may wonder if that is due to your condition, or if it is the asthma again?
Sometimes your living conditions have changed. For example, do you live in a student house where you also have pets, and do you wonder whether that is why you have complaints again or feel less fit?
It could also be that you have been very faithful in taking your asthma medication, but that you have not had a check-up for a long time, and therefore no lung function test. You may wonder whether it would be just as good without medication, or whether it is actually good because of the medication. Or you wonder whether there are new insights or new medications in the meantime.
For all these questions you can contact Air4ce Young Adults.
At the moment we do not have our own website for Young Adults, but a lot of information on the Air4ce Kids website is also applicable to young adults.
The GP can arrange a referral for you, for the time being the referral will go to Air4(ce) Kids. Your GP can find that in Zorgdomein.
What’s different?
- When you are 18+, you are considered an adult for health insurance purposes and you have a (mandatory) deductible. So if you have not yet used your deductible, the health insurance will settle this with you. Furthermore, the “goodwill arrangement” that you can find on the website also applies to you. So if you have a so-called “kind” health insurance, you do not have to pay the part that your health insurance does not pay yourself. We will pay that part, that is our “goodwill”.
Care4ces
Air4ce Young Adults and Air4ce Kids are part of a cooperative.
Within a cooperative there are companies that do something slightly different, but have the same goal and/or the same ideas. It is good to know, because you will probably receive mail with the name Care4ces on it. Then you know that it also has to do with Air4ce Young Adults. Do you want to know more about Care4ces ?
